Dr.Ismailji is co-founder, current Board Chair and past President of the Academyon Violence and Abuse (AVA), a nonprofit organization that works to advance health education andresearch on the prevention, recognition, and treatment of the health effects ofviolence and abuse across the lifespan. She serves on the Advisory Board ofthe NationalChild Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN).Aneducator and researcher on the health effects of violence and abuse, Dr.Ismailji conducts trainings, seminars, and workshops for healthcareprofessionals at medical centers, hospitals, and clinics nationally andglobally. She initiated and published research on survivors of intimate partnerviolence while a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, and in 2010, as amember of the National Health Collaborative on Violence and Abuse(NHCVA), Dr.Ismailji presented at a congressional briefing on the health effects ofviolence on Capitol Hill.A practicing pediatrician for morethan twenty years, Dr. Ismailji is dedicated to relationship abuse preventionfor young adults and adolescents.
